Chimelong Water Park, Guangzhou Panyu District (BLOG SERIES 2014)

Sunday, 28 September 2014

We wanted to grab a bite in the morning and thankfully there were alot of food stores which serves a local breakfast near our hotel. Here are some of the photos of the food that we ate.

It takes around 30 minutes leisure walk from our hotel to the Chimelong water park, look out for a large sign which indicates the park’s entrance. In doubt ask the locals around they will know the entrance.

Even though it is a Sunday, the water park is not very crowded.

Color of the day? Blue
Take note that some of the rides require 6 or more people so do not feel shy to ask strangers if they would want to join you for the ride.

The food that is provided at the park was also really expensive, no food and drinks are also allowed at the park.

We didn’t have much queue in the morning, but the park starts to get crowded in the afternoon (around 12), hence it is advisable to visit the park in the morning when it just starts.  We played at the park until around mid afternoon; we more or less tried out every single ride that they had to offer and even had time for seconds.

We left the park at 3pm as we were quite hungry and the queue was getting long. We exited the park and took a cab back to the area near the furniture mall.

Overall, this is our verdict on the Chimelong water park: 3/5

It was just average. You could get the same standard from the Adventure Cove water park in Singapore. The concept of the rides are the same, although compared to the Adventure cove, the size of the park is larger. If you have been to Adventure cove, the rides wont be much of a novelty.

Shoestrings Travel Tips

  • Take note that in order to sit on the “lazy river” ride, you have to rent the float. However there is an alternative. The volcano river ride is more or less the same as the “lazy river” ride, if not more exciting. You can instead opt for the volcano river ride if you want to cut your costs.
  • There are lockers available for rent for the whole day.

We visited the restaurant near the furniture mall to have zi cha (restaurant fare). The zi cha was just average, but compared to Singapore, it was rather cheap.

GUANGZHOU ADVENTURE (BLOG SERIES 2014)

Saturday, 27 September 2014

For the first day, we took an airplane from Singapore to Macau. We arrived at the Macau International Airport.

From the airport, there are many ways for us to enter Guangzhou. However we chose the most cost efficient way.

We took the hotel shuttle bus to Venetian Hotel. From the Venetian Hotel, there is another free shuttle bus that brings us to the Macau border.*you have to look around and ask for directions as there is no through straight path from the alighting location of the shuttle bus from Macau international airport to the departing location of the shuttle bus to the Macau border.

After clearing the customs, we crossed the border. * it is slightly faster as we only have to clear one custom in this instance.

At the Zhu Hai border, there we took a fast railway train to our next location, Guangzhou. The train end location will be Guangzhou East railway station.

But before that we settled our lunch.

After a quick 45 minutes, we arrived at the Guangzhou east railway station.

From the Guangzhou East railway station, we took a cab over to our hotel, Nan Fang Yi Yuan Hotel (南方毅源大酒店) . The cab fare costs around 35Yuan. The hotel is quite attractive, with many facilities near the hotel, food and such. But the main reason why we chose that hotel because its close to the theme park we are planning to visit.

In the evening we took a short leisure stroll down the area near our hotel. We were amazed by the mini night market that we found. Local street food were all located here, it was also bustling with activity.

In all, it is quite easy to travel from the Macau International airport to Guangzhou. Although through prior research there are 1001 and ways to reach our destination, SHOESTRINGS TRAVEL aims to bring you the fastest and most cost efficient way.

Shoestrings Travel tips

*Take note that the maps that are provided around the hotel are not really reliable, so it is easy to get lost.
If anything, download an offline maps, such as Baidu Maps to locate your location.

*Night activity near the hotel is prevalent. Try to venture around the hotel at night, but the food is a tad salty for Singaporean tastes.
