Day 5 Bai Yun Mountain + Onelink Plaza+ Tee Mall + Steamboat
In the morning we left early for the Baiyun Mountain. Before
that we bought roasted pork from around our hotel for breakfast and lunch.
We took an MRT to Mei Hua Yuan mrt stop and took a 15 minutes walk to the foot of the mountain (we did ask locals on where to head to). There is an entry fee of 4 yuan per person. As this exit is relatively secluded, we didn't encounter much people.

The Baiyun mountain is a scenic mountain located in
Guangzhou that is very popular with families. It is a great place to enjoy and
view the breathtaking views of Guangzhou city. However the trek up the mountain is pretty long and rather tiring. Baiyun Mountain is iconic of Guangzhou and definitely not one to miss for the shoestringer.
I will overcome this |
And so the journey begins |
Long way up |
At all the pit stops of Baiyun mountain, there
are food stores selling food and there were many people resting.

After walking a
considerable distance, we finally reached the final pit stop from the peak.
However there is a further charge for travelers who want to go to the very top
of the mountain (but we chose to finish our journey at the last pit stop).
At the final pit stop, there were delicious honey tarts. The honey tarts make the trip up the mountain worthwhile and it’s a must try!
The honey tarts were made from fresh honey from the bee farms that are on the mountain, hence the tarts were really delicious and it melts in your mouth.
The long trek down |
The trek down was much easier, however if you opt to take
the shorter way, there is a tram that carries people down the mountain for a
fee.
Near the foot of the mountain, there was also a bungee jump,
and a a small theme park which offers really exciting rides.

Bungee jump, if you dare.. |
Jump of doom |
After the exhaustive climb, we decided to do some SHOPPING!
We took a train to Hai Zhu Square to visit the Onelink Plaza. Onelink Plaza is a wholesale market for
toys and electronic goods. It’s a really good place if you are looking to shop
for toys, there was a huge amount of soft toys that the vendors carry. We were
looking for cheap electronic goods and there we got what we were searching for.
OneLink Plaza mall |
After that shopping, we went to Tee Mall. According to the
locals, Tee Mall is the biggest shopping mall in China(although the biggest
mall in Asia is actually the Golden Resources Mall in Beijing)
(Wikipedia,2014).
Tee Mall |
We took an mrt back to the He Chun mrt stop for some steamboat. The steamboat restaurant was really cheap! However the
service was really bad and the food was not fantastic. But for the cheap price
it was rather justified, definitely shoestring-tastic!
Steamboating |
39 Yuan for a buffet? |
Till tomorrow! |
